ADVENT RESOURCES 2023 (compiled by Pastor Carmen)

There are hard copies of Advent devotional booklets for adults outside the office door, and resources for children and families on the children’s table near the mailboxes.

Other resources:

From Biola University center for Christianity, Culture, and the Arts https://ccca.biola.edu/events/2023/dec/2/advent-project-2023-online-devotional-series/    Each day features Scripture, a devotional, a work of visual art, a poem, and a piece of music. This year focuses on the prophet Isaiah. Free, sign up at the link above.

Local Mennonite artists just released a new Advent/Christmas album: Soil and Seed Little Liturgies (Volume 8). Click on the link to access online for free. https://www.thesoilandtheseedproject.org/vol-8

Shalom: A 30 day prayer guide for Jakarta's Urban Poor, written by Pastor Carmen’s daughter and a friend under pseudonyms. While not written specifically for Advent, this could be used as a guide to prayer during this season. Hard copies are outside the office door, or you can access this on-line at the link above.

Advent Reading Plan is a colorful one-page calendar with daily scripture readings and a few activity ideas on page 2.

The Advent Conspiracy (https://adventconspiracy.org/) offers a Christian alternative response to much of the consumerism of our cultural Christmas. Check out the site for a three-minute video that explains their vision of spending less and giving more to those in greater need. Explore many resources including Advent devotionals and prayers. You need to register (free) to download some of the resources.
